UIP Achieve Partial NERS Accreditation

What Is NERS Accreditation?

The National Electricity Registration Scheme (NERS) is operated by LRQA on behalf of the UK Distribution Network Operators (DNOs). The scheme was introduced to increase competition and choice within the electricity connections market.

Through NERS, technical assessments are carried out on service providers who apply to be accredited for contestable works relating to the installation of new electrical connections. Once accredited, companies are recognised as NERS providers – also known as Independent Connection Providers (ICPs).

Accredited providers are approved to deliver a range of services including:

  • Designing new connections to the electricity network
  • Excavation and reinstatement of trenches on and around properties
  • Installing electrical switches, transformers, and associated equipment

How To Become NERS Accredited

To gain accreditation, organisations must register with LRQA and undergo a series of rigorous technical audits. These audits assess competency, quality processes, and compliance with industry standards. Accreditation provides assurance to clients and stakeholders that works will be delivered safely, efficiently, and to the highest standards.

UIP Join The List Of NERS Accredited Companies

We are delighted to announce that UIP has successfully passed its initial NERS audit and achieved partial accreditation across the following scopes:

  • Construction
  • Civil Works
  • Cable Laying (LV, 11kV, 20kV, 33kV, 66kV, 132kV)
  • Substation Installation (11kV, 20kV, 33kV, 66kV, 132kV)

This achievement demonstrates our capability to deliver complex, high-voltage electrical projects safely and effectively. It also reinforces our commitment to providing clients with quality-driven solutions in line with national industry standards.

What’s Next?

Partial accreditation is the first step towards becoming fully accredited. UIP is committed to continuing the process, with the goal of securing full NERS accreditation. This will allow us to expand our service offering even further and continue supporting clients with end-to-end infrastructure solutions.
